FADA Report May 2026: India Passenger Vehicle Sales Rise 23%, Maruti Suzuki Leads Market

India's passenger vehicle (PV) market recorded strong growth in May 2026, with total sales reaching 4,02,591 units, compared to 3,26,656 units in May 2025. This represents a year-on-year growth of over 23%, according to FADA Research data.

Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the market with 1,64,925 units sold, capturing 40.97% market share, up from 37.87% last year.

Tata Motors secured the second position with 55,544 units, while Mahindra & Mahindra followed closely with 51,311 units. Both brands maintained a strong presence in the growing SUV segment.

Hyundai Motor India sold 46,223 units, holding an 11.48% market share, while Toyota Kirloskar Motor posted healthy growth with 26,294 units sold.

Among other manufacturers, Kia India recorded 24,644 units, while MG Motor, Honda Cars India, and Renault India continued to contribute steadily to the market.

The strong performance highlights growing consumer demand, improved vehicle availability, and increasing preference for SUVs and feature-rich vehicles across India.

As the automotive industry continues to expand, leading manufacturers are expected to focus on new launches, electric vehicles, and enhanced customer experiences to maintain growth momentum throughout 2026.
